Man Utd could add Kylian Mbappe and Andre Onana this summer as De Gea not retained – Paper Round

PSG would sell Mbappe to United

The Mirror reports that Paris Saint-Germain would sell Kylian Mbappe to Manchester United.

However the club would need the Qatari takeover to go through to provide hefty transfer funds.

Mbappe dismisses Real Madrid ‘lies’, says he is ‘very happy’ at PSG

The paper states: “Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to sell Kylian Mbappe to Manchester United this summer should the Qatari-backed Sheikh Jassim takeover bid at Old Trafford prove successful.

“Mbappe will not sign the one-year contract extension in his PSG contract meaning that his deal will expire in 12 months. Mirror Football understands that the French club’s priority is to ensure he does not leave without a transfer fee, meaning they are prepared to cash in on the superstar this summer.

“The French superstar has confirmed that he intends to remain at the Ligue 1 champions beyond this summer but it is understood that PSG will push for his exit as they are aware that the alternative is missing out on a landmark transfer fee entirely.”

United line up De Gea replacement

Manchester United have not included David de Gea on their retained list, and The Sun suggests that Andre Onana is a potential replacement.

However, De Gea could stay if he agrees fresh terms, with time away from the Spaniard preventing a renewal.

“The goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of the month,” the report claims.

“But he has agreed a one-year extension and has verbally agreed to stay, however his holiday has prevented the contract from being signed.

“De Gea, 32, is believed to be ready to take a pay cut of around 50 per cent of the current £375,000-a-week wages he earns.

“United confirmed discussions remain open with the Spaniard when announcing their retained list.

“One goalkeeper they have their eye on is Andre Onana, who helped Inter Milan reach the Champions League final this season.”

Kovacic deal nears completion

The Daily Mail claims that Mateo Kovacic’s move to Chelsea should soon go through.

The 29-year-old Croatian has quickly agreed to move to the current champions.

The paper explains: “Manchester City are reported to be close to completing a £34m swoop for Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

“However issues surrounding Chelsea’s precarious Financial Fair Play position have caused a minor delay.

“After spending nearly £600m in Todd Boehly’s first year at the club, Chelsea are keen to recoup a sizeable up-front fee for their wantaway star, but are under pressure to complete a deal before June 30 when any outgoings will be counted against the 2022-23 season’s expenditure.

“As a result, the outlet report that the transfer is expected to be completed within a fortnight as personal terms are already believed to have been agreed between Kovacic and City.”

Fletcher twins to join United

Darren Fletcher’s twin sons, Jack and Tyler, are close to moving to join their father at Manchester United.

The Athletic suggests that teenagers will command a hefty fee after some impressive displaces.

“Manchester United have launched a bid to sign Manchester City prospects Jack and Tyler Fletcher, the twin sons of United technical director Darren Fletcher,” the website says.

“Despite their father’s role and illustrious playing career at Old Trafford, the 16-year-old midfielders have come through the heralded youth system at United’s local rivals.

But the Fletcher siblings are now on course to cross the divide after United approached City last week to open discussions, with a transfer expected to be completed for a substantial fee.”
