Man Utd prepare £86m bid for Rasmus Hojlund to beat off Paris Saint-Germain interest – Paper Round

United need to act fast over Hojlund

Manchester United may be bounced into a bid for Rasmus Hojlund after Paris Saint-Germain emerged as rivals for his signature.

“Manchester United are planning to speed up their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund amid fears the move will be hijacked,” The Sun claims.

“The Red Devils are concerned about growing interest from another European giant in the Danish striker.

“Hojlund is understood to have already agreed personal terms with United, who have yet to launch an official bid to sign him.

“However, Erik ten Hag’s side are now said to be preparing their opening offer for the 20-year-old.

“The club are looking to speed up the deal in order to avoid being hijacked by PSG.

“Atalanta value him at £86 million, having only signed him last summer and [there] still being four years remaining on his contract.”

Van de Beek may stay at United

The Mirror reports that Donny van de Beek has not made up his mind over his Old Trafford future, and could remain at Manchester United after recovering from injury.

“Donny van de Beek has refused to rule out the prospect of him staying at Manchester United next season after his pre-season stunner against Lyon,” the paper states.

“The Netherlands international has drastically underwhelmed since he arrived at Old Trafford from Ajax for a fee of £40million in the summer of 2020. As a result, his stock has fallen considerably since he was a key figure in the Ajax side that reached the last four of the Champions League in 2019.

“Van de Beek’s three years with the Red Devils have seen him endure a difficult loan spell at Everton, three different managers in the Old Trafford hot-seat and just 34 league appearances to his name. He may be hopeful he can force his way into Erik ten Hag’s plans next term and got his pre-season campaign off to an impressive start on Wednesday.”

Villa closing in on Diaby

Moussa Diaby could be through the door at Aston Villa as they continue to look to build on the arrival of Pau Torres.

The Mail reports: “Aston Villa are increasingly hopeful of sealing a club record deal for Bayer Leverkusen forward Moussa Diaby.

“The France international is valued at close to £50 million by the Bundesliga club, which would comfortably break Villa’s transfer record – the £40m paid to Norwich for Emiliano Buendia two years ago.

“Villa and Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr both wanted Diaby, who was keen for his future to be resolved before Leverkusen depart for their pre-season training camp in Austria on Sunday.”

Suarez will not join Inter Miami

The Athletic reports that Luis Suarez will not be on his way to MLS side Inter Miami any time soon.

The website wrote: “Despite public courting by Inter Miami ownership, Luis Suarez will not be joining his close friend Lionel Messi in Miami… at least not in the immediate future.

“Suarez, 36, is currently under contract with Brazilian side Gremio until December of 2024. He signed a two-year contract with Gremio after a highly-publicized return to his boyhood club, Club Nacional de Uruguay, in the summer of 2022.

“At the start of this week, multiple reports in Argentina had Suarez as virtually a lock to join Messi at Inter Miami, even before this winter. On Tuesday, Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas addressed that ongoing rumor and mentioned Suarez’s closeness to and history playing with Messi and his other former Barcelona team-mates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.”
