Manchester City line up Gabriel Veiga, Josko Gvardiola and Mateo Kovacic deals – Paper Round

City set for huge spree

Manchester City are already looking for reinforcements, explains the Telegraph, and they are looking to recruit two midfielders and a defender.

The paper writes: “With City banking around £180 million for winning the Premier League, about £110 million for their Champions League success and £4 million for the FA Cup win, on top of record revenues and huge sums raised from player sales in recent seasons, Guardiola could be armed with an enormous transfer kitty this summer.

“But the extent of the club’s business is likely to be heavily influenced by who leaves amid doubts over the futures of Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte and Joao Cancelo among others.

“City are in talks with Chelsea over a deal for Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic and are also interested in signing his international team-mate, Josko Gvardiol, the RB Leipzig centre-back, in the event Laporte leaves in pursuit of more regular football.

“After losing out to Real for their No 1 midfield target, Jude Bellingham, City are thought to be among the clubs with an interest in the talented Celta Vigo and Spain Under-21 midfielder, Gabriel Veiga.”

Napoli ready to sell Min-jae

The Mirror believes that Napoli are drawing up a list of replacements for Kim Min-jae, with the Souith Korean defender expected to leave for Manchester United this summer.

“Napoli have drawn-up a four-man shortlist to replace Kim Min-jae as Manchester United push for his transfer with Harry Maguire made available for sale,” the paper reports.

“Kim, 26, has been linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford for months despite only moving to Naples last year. The South Korean international enjoyed a tremendous campaign as he starred in the club’s remarkable Serie A title-winning campaign, but his contract contains a release clause which removes any negotiation process.

“Maguire has dropped to fifth choice in the pecking order this campaign, behind Shaw and Victor Lindelof, while there are suitors in the Premier League for the club captain. Ten Hag’s desire is for the club to cash-in on the England international to bolster his transfer budget this summer.”

City aim to keep stars

After winning the Champions League, The Sun reports that Man City want to keep both Ilkay Gundogan and Stefan Ortega, who are just two players targeted by other clubs.

The paper claims: “STEFAN ORTEGA will be handed a new deal worth £85,000 a week to see off interest from overseas.

“But the Bundesliga giants remain big admirers and there have been murmurs in Germany of them making another bid this summer.

“It comes as City also try to keep midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

“Barcelona, Arsenal, old club Borussia Dortmund and Saudi Arabia are monitoring the midfielder.

“Fellow 32-year-old Riyad Mahrez is likewise attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League.

“And City might have to make a decision over England anchorman Kalvin Phillips, 27, who has often been left unused on the bench.”

Mourinho set for Al-Hilal negoations

Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal are believed to be in negotiations with Jose Mourinho as they look to tempt the Roma manager to take over.

“Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal are reportedly in talks to tempt Jose Mourinho to join them with a lucrative contract and opportunities to select new signings,” writes the Daily Mail.

“The Special One, 60, has been manager of Roma since 2021, but there has been intense speculation that he will leave the Serie A club in the summer, despite being contracted to the [Giallorossi] for another year.

“Sources believe a meeting next week in London will be held between Mourinho and Walid Moaz, the owner of Al-Hilal.

“The offer is thought to come with a lucrative financial package, as well as allowing the Portuguese boss to call the shots over players he wishes to bring in.”
