Manchester City striker Erling Haaland breaks Premier League goal record for single season against West Ham
Haaland chipped over goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski from Jack Grealish’s pass to move one ahead of previous record holders Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.
Cole and Shearer bagged their record hauls in 1993/94 and 1994/95 respectively, which were both 42-match seasons.

Guardiola praises ‘unique and unbelievable’ Haaland after record-breaking goal

Since 1995/96 a Premier League season has been played across 38 matches, and Haaland still potentially has five more games to streak further clear.
In all competitions for City this season, Haaland now has 51 goals in 45 appearances.
He may have his sights on the all-time English football record set by Dixie Dean, who scored 63 goals in 41 games for Everton in 1927/28.
Pep Guardiola’s side also have a game in hand on the Gunners.
Nathan Ake scored the opener against West Ham before Haaland’s record-breaking goal and then a deflected volley from Phil Foden.
Foden’s effort was City’s 1,000th since Pep Guardiola came to the club in 2016.
Haaland was asked by Sky Sports if he would swap his goals for the treble this season, and he quickly answered: “Yes, yes. It’s the most important thing.
“Everyone knows it’s possible but we can’t think of the FA Cup final now. We just have to think of Leeds. Every one of the last nine games now is a cup final.”
City next host Leeds on Saturday and then face Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
