Premier League sides looking at Mamardashvili

The Sun believes that Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are all keen on signing Valencia’s Georgian international goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The three teams could see the exit of David de Gea, Edouard Mendy and Hugo Lloris in the summer, respectively.

“The Valencia goalkeeper has become one of the most highly-rated in Europe after cementing his spot at the LaLiga side

“Mamardashvili, 22, has now attracted interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham.

“The report suggests that his representative was in London to discuss a summer switch.

“However getting the goalkeeper away from the Spanish side will be tricky as he signed a new contract in September.

“The deal is believed to include a release clause worth £87.5million.”

Arsenal hope to sign Sow

Arsenal are looking at adding to their midfield options this summer as Mikel Arteta is already planning for additions this summer.

The Londoners are top of the table in the title race, and The Mirror reports that Swiss international midfielder Djibril Sow is seen as an option.

“The Gunners are currently focused on the Premier League title race, with Mikel Arteta’s side holding an eight-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the table. But, behind the scenes, sporting director Edu and his team are already thinking ahead for the summer off-season, when they will have an opportunity to solidify Arsenal ’s position.

“Arteta wants to strengthen the squad in central midfield, where back-up is needed for regular starters Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey. Jorginho was signed from Chelsea in January, and Mohamed Elneny signed a new contract in February, but Arsenal are still open to new arrivals.

“The 26-year-old has told his employers that he won’t sign a new contract and the German club are therefore keen to cash in this summer while he retains some value. Talks have already been held with English, French and Italian clubs, with Sow valued at around €15million (£13m).”

Lampard set for Chelsea return

After sacking Graham Potter, Frank Lampard now looks set to come back to Stamford Bridge to take over the first team, but only on an interim basis.

Lampard left Everton after struggling with the side but he did well in his first year at Chelsea and could be a caretaker until a permanent appointment such as Luis Enrique is made.

“The former Spain coach is one of four candidates to succeed Graham Potter on a permanent basis, and Lampard has been asked to take charge of the club who sacked him two years ago on a caretaker basis.

“He attended Chelsea’s goalless draw with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday as a guest of the club’s majority shareholder Behdad Eghbali.”

Messi has three options

Spanish newspaper Marca reports that doubts are emerging over Lionel Messi’s future at Paris Saint-Germain, but a return to Barcelona is no sure thing.

The other option for the veteran is a big money transfer to Saudi Arabia or the MLS, which would hint that he is closing in on retirement.

“Any complete approach at this stage would mean ignoring a reality that has become more complicated in the last month. What seemed a very likely renewal with Paris Saint-Germain is now further away.

“PSG are not happy but until a few days ago they were still knocking on Leo’s door. A fact that is true.

“Barcelona are no fools. They have sensed the availability of the club’s greatest ever player and have set the wheels in motion for a stunning return. Yuste spoke of contacts with Leo’s entourage.

“A move that would perhaps signal the winding-down of Messi’s career, a switch to MLS of the United States, Saudi Arabia or even Qatar.”
