Manchester United consider using Harry Maguire in transfer package to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea – Paper Round

Man Utd consider Maguire-Mount swap

Manchester United are willing to use club captain Harry Maguire as part of a package to entice Chelsea to lower their demands for Mason Mount. The Blues midfielder is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer as Chelsea have accepted he will not sign an extension beyond his deal that expires in 2024.

The two parties are currently distanced in their negotiations as Chelsea want £70 million for Mount, so Maguire – who is valued at £30 million by United – could be used to help lower their demands.

The Sun reveals: “United are hopeful of securing Mount but they are some distance away from agreeing a fee with Chelsea wanting around £70million.

“But Old Trafford skipper Maguire, 30, who looks certain to leave the club, is valued at about £30m and could be offered by United.

“New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino tried to sign Maguire when he was at Hull but the offer from Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was not good enough, so the defender signed for Leicester instead.”

Kane keen to stay in Premier League

Harry Kane is expected to push for a move to a rival Premier League club if he leaves Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The 29-year-old has one year remaining on his current contract in north London and could push for summer exit. Kane is reportedly wanted by Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, but will favour a move to Manchester United to stay in England as he eyes the Premier League all-time goalscoring record.

The Mirror reports: “‌Paris Saint-Germain made enquiries to see if the Tottenham striker would be interested in a move to France this summer. But the interest was instantly rebuffed with the French giants believing that the England captain is not interested in moving abroad.

“Real Madrid have also been interested and may now step up their interest as Karim Benzema prepares to leave this summer for a mega pay day in Saudi Arabia.

“Tottenham are undoubtedly more open to selling to a foreign club than a Premier League rival this summer and they would rather risk Kane running down his contract than sell to Manchester United.”

Napoli eye Arsenal striker as Osimhen replacement

Arsenal are open to selling Folarin Balogun this summer and the 21-year-old has attracted attention across the continent following a scintillating loan spell at Stade Reims this season. The Gunners are looking to raise at least £30 million to add to their summer transfer funds and Balogun is wanted by AC Milan and Napoli. The Serie A champions are in the market for a striker as the club expects Victor Osimhen to leave this summer.

The Mirror writes: “AC Milan like the idea of signing young talent and Balogun fits into their model, but Napoli are also watching developments and are making their interest known.

“The Italian champions know they may need to bring in attacking reinforcements, with Osimhen wanted by United, Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain.

“‌Arsenal are set to do business on Balogun at the right price – they will look for at least £30million – after the 21-year-old had a prolific season on loan at Stade Reims.”

Chelsea unwilling to sell Colwill

Chelsea have rejected a £30-million bid for centre-back Levi Colwill from Brighton, where the 20-year-old spent the season on loan. Colwill is set to return to Stamford Bridge this summer after an impressive debut campaign in the Premier League and new manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly a big fan of the youngster. Colwill is set to be part of Pochettino’s plans, meaning it is unlikely he will return to Brighton.

The Standard states: “Chelsea insist Levi Colwill is not for sale after rejecting a £30million bid from Brighton for the central defender.

“Colwill has enjoyed a brilliant season on loan at Brighton and Mauricio Pochettino has indicated he is in his plans at Stamford Bridge.

“Manchester City and Liverpool have also held interest in Colwill, who is set expected to be pushing for England call-up ahead of Euro 2024 next summer.”
