Manchester United prepare opening bid for £86m Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund – Paper Round

Manchester United prepare bid for Hojlund

The Sun believes that Atalanta’s manager is worried that Rasmus Hojlund will soon be on his way to Manchester United as both clubs prepare for the new season.

“ATALANTA boss Gian Piero Gasperini fears he could lose Rasmus Hojlund amid interest from Manchester United,” the paper reports.

“The Red Devils have made the youngster their number one striker target this summer.

“Hojlund is believed to be keen on the transfer and has agreed personal terms with the club.

“United are set to make an opening bid while Paris Saint-Germain are also considering a move.

“Atalanta reportedly value Hojlund at £86million which is beyond what United are prepared to pay.”

Technical director leaves Chelsea

Chelsea will replace their technical director as they look to overhaul the recruitment setup which left them struggling last season.

“Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell has left the club after less than a year in his role – as Todd Boehly continues to wield the axe,” the Mirror states.

“Vivell, who was previously at RB Leipzig where he was responsible for recruitment and scouting, joined the Blues in December. He also spent five years at Leipzig’s sister club Red Bull Salzburg as head of scouting and recruitment, overseeing the signings of Erling Haaland and Karim Adeyemi during his time in Austria.

“However, just seven months since his appointment, Vivell has departed the Blues, despite being hired by Boehly as the long-term successor to ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech. This was after Cech, alongside several staff members, had left the club following Boehly’s takeover last summer.”

Tottenham set to receive second Kane bid

Tottenham are likely to receive a second bid for striker Harry Kane from Bayern Munich, with manager Ange Postecoglou worried about the disruption to his plans for the coming campaign.

The Telegraph writes: “Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has urged the club to resolve Harry Kane’s future, insisting he is “not relaxed” about the England captain’s situation as Bayern Munich pursue a summer deal.

“Bayern have had a £70 million bid rejected for Kane so far and are poised to make an improved offer to tempt Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. Kane has less than a year left on his contract and there has been no indication yet of signing a new deal, raising the possibility of leaving for free at the end of next season.

“Postecoglou would like the issue resolved either way so focus can be on his first campaign as Spurs manager. He has three weeks before the season starts with a fixture at Brentford on Aug 13, and the Australian coach would ideally like any questions surrounding Kane’s future to be answered by then.”

Mbappe put up for sale by PSG

PSG have decided to attempt to push Kylian Mbappe out of the club this summer as they attempt to keep him from leaving for Real Madrid for nothing next summer.

The Athletic claims: “Paris Saint-Germain have left Kylian Mbappe out of their travelling squad for their pre-season tour of Japan and have put the France captain up for sale.

“The development is the latest escalation in the transfer saga and follows Mbappe’s decision not to extend his contract, which runs until 2024, by a further year.

“The French champions have now taken the view that Mbappe intends to leave PSG on a free transfer for Real Madrid next summer, and are now planning without him.

“Mbappe has had initial interest from teams in the Saudi Pro League in what would be a world record transfer fee, but there is no current indication that the forward is interested in signing for any other club other than Madrid.

“The 24-year-old featured and scored in his side’s pre-season victory over Le Havre earlier today, but will not travel with the squad to Japan tomorrow.”
