“Maguire, 30, is now Erik ten Hag’s fifth-choice centre-back, spending the majority of this season watching from the bench as his team-mates shine. Despite Ten Hag publicly offering his backing to the England international, there are suggestions from Old Trafford that United would be open to selling Maguire this summer and recouping some of the £80m they paid Leicester for him in 2019.

“But in that case, the Red Devils would almost certainly want to recruit a new centre-back to offset Maguire’s departure, and that’s where Kim comes in.”

Roma close to Aouar deal

Roma are set to snap up Houssem Aouar on a free transfer as his contract approaches its expiry this summer.

The midfielder has been linked with a number of European sides over the past two years but The Sun thinks Jose Mourinho will get his man.

“JOSE MOURINHO is closing in on signing Houssem Aouar on a free transfer,” a report claims.

“The Lyon playmaker, 24, was a long-term target for Arsenal and Liverpool.

“Aouar has reached an agreement to join Roma when his Lyon contract expires this summer.

“The deal is said to just need signatures before being completed.

“That will come as a blow to Real Betis and even Manchester United, with both clubs said to be interested and monitoring the situation.

“But Aouar looks set to join the Giallorossi and work under Mourinho at the Stadio Olimpico.”

Newcastle discover Guler clause

Arda Guler, Fenerbahce’s 18-year-old talent, has a clause that will allow him to leave for just £4.4 million if he fails to play a certain amount of minutes.

The Daily Mail explains what could allow Newcastle to swoop in for a bargain.

“Newcastle are among the club’s interested in Fenerbahce’s teenage wonderkid Arda Guler – who has been dubbed the ‘Turkish Lionel Messi’.; according to the report.

“The 18-year-old is widely viewed as one of the hottest young prospects in European football having made his first-team breakthrough at the Turkish club last season.

“And Mail Sport understands that Newcastle are manoeuvring themselves into a position to strike for Guler ahead of next season.

“Interested clubs have been alerted to a clause in Guler’s deal – that expires in 2025 – that allows him to leave for as little as £4.4million if he does not play 1,500 minutes of football this season.”

Hazard planning to stay at Real

Real Madrid might be keen on getting rid of Eden Hazard as they look to use the Belgian’s wages for another player, but Spanish newspaper Marca reports he has other ideas.

They write: “Eden Hazard does not want to leave Real Madrid. Although Carlo Ancelotti rarely plays him, the Belgian said on ‘Cadena Cope’ after winning the Copa del Rey title that he wants to fulfil his contract.

“During the celebrations, Hazard was asked about his season, and acknowledged that it is not being easy: “It’s been a difficult year, but it’s a year with a very big team”.

“Despite the fact that Hazard isn’t in Ancelotti’s plans, the Belgian attacker will not give up: “I want to play but I know it is very difficult. I have to work and I hope to play more.”

“He has one year left on his contract at Real Madrid and is one of the players who could leave in the summer. However, he was categorical when asked if he wants to fulfil the year of his remaining contract with Los Blancos: ‘Of course.’”
