Mark Cavendish’s wait for Tour de France stage win No. 35 goes on, as Jasper Philipsen pipped him in a sprint finish in Bordeaux.

After two days of punch and counter-punch from the general classification contenders, focus turned to the sprinters.

All eyes were on whether Cavendish could get the job done to break out of a tie with Eddy Merckx for the winning-most rider in Tour history.
