Martha Stewart declares Thanksgiving is back on after saying she’s ‘turkeyed out’
Thanksgiving is officially back on!
Just days after declaring that she’s canceled her Thanksgiving plans this year, Martha Stewart has done a U-turn and revealed just how she plans to celebrate.
The lifestyle guru, 82, said she’s gearing up to cook a “stuffed and roasted 20-pound organic, heritage bird” as well as “prepping to bake thirty pies” for the holiday.
“My colossal chocolate turkey, crafted using my giant antique turkey mold, did not survive storage since October, crumbling into itself. I am melting the chocolate and using it for the chocolate pecan pies,” wrote Stewart alongside a photo of a chocolate turkey,” she wrote in an Instagram post Tuesday.
Stewart said she’s not hosting people at her plush, 153-acre estate in Westchester County, New York — but instead, she’s leaving it open to paying guests.
The residence, which often appears in the lifestyle juggernaut’s sizzling Instagram, was acquired by Stewart in 2000 for a whopping $15.2 million.
Instead, she plans to celebrate with pals after a few busy days working on her garden.
Stewart said she’s “staying home for two days to plant 75 new peonies” and digging up “hundreds of other peonies for relocation.”
“Leaves are systematically being blown and composted, compost is being spread atop all the flower beds, and burlap coats are being made to cover the hundreds of boxwood shrubs for the cold winter ahead,” she shared.
The beloved entrepreneur said her daughter Alexis Stewart, and her two children Jude, 12, and Truman, 11, will be “flying off to California to visit as many of the giant redwoods and metasequoias as possible for three days.”
What’s more, Stewart urged fans to send her their Thanksgiving feast photos — and she’ll even select a few to post on her own website.
Stewart had fans worried last week when she said she “gave up Thanksgiving” during an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
“Nine guests canceled because somebody got sick,” she explained. “So … I called up my chef friend and I said, ‘We’re not doing Thanksgiving.’”
According to Stewart, she has cooked several turkeys on various TV programs and was getting tired of preparing the dish anyway, before ultimately deciding otherwise.
“I’ve also cooked 14 turkeys already for my TV show, and I still have to [cook] one more turkey on the ‘Today’ show,” Stewart added. “So forget it.”
