Martin Shkreli has crypto talk at Brooklyn Tech canceled

Convicted fraudster and so-called “pharma bro” Martin Shkreli was scheduled to speak with students at Brooklyn Technical High School on Tuesday, but administrators reportedly canceled the event at the last minute — leading Shkreli to lash out and tell a reporter to “lick my balls.”

The high school’s crypto club had invited the disgraced former pharmaceutical executive to speak at its after-school meeting to share his “insights” about the financial industry, the club wrote in a poster promoting the event.

He would also speak about the future of cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence and the pharmaceutical sector, the Daily Beast reported.

Shkreli, now 40 and free from jail, even touted the event on X, calling Brooklyn Tech “one of my crosstown rivals growing up” and saying he has “fond memories of talking to the brightest kids in NYC.”

But on its Instagram Story Monday night, the Brooklyn Tech High School Crypto Club announced that the event was “indefinitely postponed” after the New York City Department of Education found out about the scheduled speech and saw it as a “bad PR risk.”

“I believe that this infringes on our freedoms of speech, expression and learning,” the club’s president wrote.

“I stand with my words when I say that I will make sure that the event takes place, whether with support from DoE or not.”

When a reporter for the Daily Beast later reached out to Shkreli to confirm that the event had been canceled, Shkreli accused the reporter of informing the Department of Education of the scheduled event, and that as a result “some 16 [year olds] won’t be able to get the event they wanted.

“Motherf–ers, I will host a parade in Brooklyn on a Harambe float in front of the DoE building, you don’t know me,” he wrote.

Shkreli also shared screen grabs of the private conversation he had with the reporter, in which he said he believes the event will be rescheduled off-campus.

He then told the reporter: “I am not mad. Less work for me is better. I like having fans, but I don’t want to work for them because I am lazy.

“So it would be good if it was canceled, but I think we will do it somewhere else, which is bad for me because I am lazy as I said earlier in this quote,” he said, adding that the event cancelation frees him up to play video games.

“Also, lick my balls.”

The Post has reached out to the Department of Education and Brooklyn Tech for comment.

Shkreli became notorious in 2015 when his Turing Pharmaceuticals acquired the rights to the life-saving cancer and AIDS drug Daraprim, and jacked the price from $13.50 per pill to $750.

He was then sentenced to seven years in prison in 2017 for securities fraud and barred from the industry.

Shkreli was released from prison in May 2022, and has since created an AI chat platform.
