Maryland wife must pay fine to ‘Taylor Swift jar’ if she mentions megastar’s name around husband
Curse words are commonly forbidden in households, but Taylor Swift’s name seems to be the case for this family.
A woman is going viral after posting a video on Instagram of her husband making her pay up if she mentions anything in relation to the iconic pop-country singer Swift.
Maryland realtor Dana Rice posted the clip showing her husband tape up a “Taylor Swift Jar” for whenever she blurts out the famed singer’s name, or anything related to her.
Yes, that means Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s name is out the window in the house too.
The video starts off with Rice hysterically laughing while zooming in on the cylinder-shaped jar, where a small note on the front reads, “Taylor Swift Jar, any mention of Taylor Swift and you owe $0.25. I can’t take it anymore. Travis Kelce included.”
“I can’t take it no longer,” the husband can be heard saying while Rice just laughs away in the video that’s been viewed more than 9.8 million times.
“They both were on Saturday Night Live yesterday,” Rice goes, possibly mentioning something related to Swift.
That’s when the husband responds back and goes, “that’s a quarter.”
Swift fans couldn’t get enough of the clip, with some even siding with the fanned-out “Swiftie” mother of three boys.
“25 cents is a small price to pay to spread the gospel,” one jokester commented on the video.
“Jokes on him, you’re using the money to go see her live 😍,” another user replied.
“Put a jar next to it for football mentions. Anytime he mentions the NFL at all, it’s a quarter,” one woman typed out.
Rice says her fandom for Swift became a thing when the singer’s “The Eras Tour” launched.
Being the real estate business person Rice is, she says hearing about all of the reports and analytics showing Swift’s insane ticket sale numbers struck her.
“I started seeing reports and things from other people and other industries talking about her from a business perspective — from a force-of-nature perspective when she first started this tour,” Rice said according to Fox.
“It just sort of arrived in my consciousness and became something that I wanted to look into because I’m a business person and I wanted to learn,” she added.
Swift grew on Rice so much that the she ended up getting her hands on some Eras Tour tickets to go see the pop-country infused star.
Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour is doing unheard of numbers, shattering every box office record as the highest-grossing concert film in history.
When The Eras Tour kicked off for just it’s third day, the concert already made $92.8 million in ticket sales in just the US alone, followed by $30.7 million internationally, Variety Magazine reported.
Rice says her husband already supplied her with rolls of quarters for the forbidden-Swift-name jar.
Rice, who is a Washington Commanders fan, says she loves her team but is now tuned in to the Kansas City Chiefs team for the sake of knowing cameras will heavily bring attention to Swift or Kelce.
“I don’t ask [her husband] who’s playing, I ask, ‘When is the Taylor Swift game?’ That’s how it’s now framed in my house,” Rice says.
