Matthew Perry, Kate Hudson would ‘endlessly’ talk about love

Kate Hudson recalled Monday how she and the late Matthew Perry would often talk endlessly about “the trials and tribulations of love” in a heartfelt Instagram Story.

“We played tennis and played more tennis, talked endlessly about trials and tribulations of love and then would talk some more as we would laugh our a–es off and then laughed some more,” Hudson, 44, wrote. “I share the same sadness with all our film and TV community who shared time with Matthew.”

“As you can see, to know him was to adore him,” continued the “Almost Famous” star. “I send my love and condolences to his family and his work families.”

“We love you Matthew,” she concluded.

The touching tribute to the “Friends” actor was accompanied by a photo of Hudson and Perry, 54, presenting at the 2004 MTV Movie Awards.

News of Perry’s death broke Saturday when the actor was found dead at his California home after an apparent drowning.

According to a statement from law enforcement obtained by The Post, the “Fools Rush In” star was found submerged in a hot tub and not breathing.

“Los Angeles City Firefighters responded to the 18000 block of West Blue Sail Drive at 4:07 PM on October 28, 2023, to find an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone jacuzzi,” the statement read. “A bystander had brought the man’s head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then Firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival.”

The statement revealed that upon his removal from the water, officials performed a “rapid medical assessment” before determining that Perry had been deceased “prior to first responder arrival.”

Sources close to the investigation revealed that police have ruled out foul play and have not found any illegal drugs nearby.

Authorities did note that they found anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medications inside the home alongside pills for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Perry’s cause of death has been listed as “deferred” after Lt. Aimee Earl, an investigator with the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office, informed The Post that she had ordered several other tests, including a toxicology report, to be conducted on the actor.

The findings are likely to take several months to complete.

Several tributes to the “17 Again” star have since flooded the internet, including one from his “Friends” co-stars — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” the Monday statement, which was obtained by People, read. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able,” the statement continued. “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

“Friends” guest star Hank Azaria also recalled how Perry “lived to laugh,” while Ione Skye, who starred alongside the actor in his 1988 debut film “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon,” said he messaged her nearly one week before his death.
