Matthew Stevens, Stephen Maguire, Ricky Walden and Jordan Brown qualify for Welsh Open snooker

Matthew Stevens showed his evergreen qualities with a 4-1 win over the 2022 European Masters winner Fan Zhengyi Welsh Open qualifying at the Barnsley Metrodome.

The 2000 Masters champion rolled in breaks of 77 and 64 to advance to the last 64 of the Welsh Open in front of his home fans in Llandudno (13-19 February LIVE on Eurosport).

Elsewhere on Thursday, former UK champion Stephen Maguire found some of his prolific scoring form in a 4-1 victory against Michael Judge.

Qualifying concludes on Friday with 2012 Welsh Open winner Ding Junhui meeting Ashley Hugill 2009 champion facing John Astley.

Matches involving the top 16 seeds at the fourth Home Nations event of the season are held over until the final venue with world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan meeting Oliver Lines on Monday 13 February.
