Max Holloway ends Arnold Allen winning run at UFC Fight Night in Kansas City
Arnold Allen’s 10-fight UFC winning run came to an end as the Englishman fell to defeat against former featherweight champion Max Holloway in Kansas City.
Holloway claimed victory over five rounds at UFC Fight Night by unanimous decision.
It ended a terrific run of recent form from Allen, who was on the fourth-longest streak of all active UFC fighters and claimed the biggest win of his career over Calvin Kattar in October.

However, 31-year-old Holloway, the top-ranked featherweight and former unified title holder, claimed his 23rd UFC win and inflicted Allen’s first defeat.
“Max is one of the best. He’s an inspiration to me – I love the man,” said Allen.
It was a blow to the title aspirations of Allen, ranked fourth, as the Hawaiian bounced back from defeat to featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski last July.
Holloway took the cards 49-46, 49-46, 48-47 as he countered Allen’s aggressive approach expertly.
During the fight, Holloway became the first UFC fighter to reach 3000 significant strikes.
Allen picked up the pace towards the end and inflicted a cut under Holloway’s right eye, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide back in his favour.
“Arnold hits like a truck. He got me in the last round and blackened my eye. My career is in jeopardy now because of you,” joked Holloway.
“[The plan was] to keep tagging him. The dude’s durable, he wanted to go all the way and I welcome that.
“Kansas, I love everybody here. But when this beast of a man [Allen] here takes the mic, cheer the man. He deserves it.”
