Meek Mill posts bail for 20 women so they can go home for the holidays

It was the greatest gift a family could receive.

Rapper Meek Mill posted bail for 20 Philadelphia women last weekend so they could spend the holidays with their families, according to the rapper’s Instagram.

The good deed was organized by the 35-year-old artist’s nonprofit, REFORM Alliance, who worked with the Riverside Correctional Facility to send the incarcerated women back home for the holidays.

“The women, who were unable to afford bail, will now be able to spend the holiday season with their families and loved ones,” the nonprofit said on social media. “Five women were released today and will be reunited with their families, with the goal of 15 more women being released in the coming week. The women will also each receive a gift card to purchase groceries or gifts for the holidays,” wrote REFORM.

Mill (aka Robert Rihmeek Williams) also made a personal statement. “For families impacted by the criminal justice system, the holidays can be an extremely challenging time,” the “God Did” rapper began.

“No one should have to spend the holidays in jail simply because they can’t afford bail, and no child should be without their parents during this time if we can do something about it. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help these women be with their families and loved ones during this special time of year.”

This isn’t the only bit of holiday magic Mill performed this year.

He and REFORM teamed up with the Philadelphia Eagles owner Michael Rubin earlier this month, bringing 35 kids who had been impacted by the criminal justice system to the Eagles training facility, where they signed them for a special — and official — one-day contract with the team. The kids were given custom jerseys and got a chance to meet some of their favorite pro football stars.
