Mega Millions $494M jackpot won, tickets sold in California and Florida

Jackpot!

Two lucky ticket holders from California and Florida selected the correct numbers to win the massive $494 million Mega Millions prize during Friday’s drawing.

The winning numbers were: 9, 22, 26, 41, and 44 while the Mega Ball was 19.

One Mega Millions winning ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven convenience store in San Jose, Calif., according to the California Lottery’s website.

The second ticket was also sold at a 7-Eleven in Fort Myers, according to WFLA. The winners have yet to be identified.

Each ticket holder could either choose the $247.9 million prize or a cash option of roughly $123.9 million.

Only a handful of states across the country allow the jackpot winner to remain anonymous.

Californians and Floridians are required by law to provide their name, city of residence, what game they won, when they won and how much they won, according to the state’s websites.

Both winners will be required to reveal their identity to the public when they claim their prize money.

Three other winners came close from New Jersey, North Carolina, and Texas, only missing the Mega ball. They’ll take home a consolation prize of $1 million.

The last Mega Millions winner was back in July when the nation had lottery fever for the $1.337 billion jackpot, which was won by an anonymous ticket holder out of Des Plaines, Illinois.

Those who fell short in the Mega Millions lottery could still become a millionaire.

The Powerball lottery jackpot reached the $454 million mark. The jackpot carries a cash value of 232.6 million ahead of Saturday’s drawing.
