Meghan Markle strikes gold with Prince Harry in NYC appearance

Meghan Markle donned a strapless, $1,850 golden Johanna Ortiz ensemble with a matching $1,100 Carolina Herrera clutch bag and $1,350 Tom Ford heels Tuesday for the Ms. Foundation awards ceremony in the Ziegfeld Ballroom in Manhattan.

The Duchess of Sussex, who skipped the royal coronation earlier this month, arrived in style at the NYC event with Prince Harry, 38, on her arm and her mom, Doria Ragland, 66, by her side.

Markle, 41, is the guest of honor, slated to receive the 2023 Women of Vision Award “for her global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls.”

The award is presented by longtime activist, pal and Ms. Foundation founder Gloria Steinem.

Tickets for the event cost $1,500, while tables cost a minimum of $15,000.

Other ceremony honorees include LaTosha Brown, co-founder of Black Voters Matter; Wanda Irving, co-founder of a non-profit that works to alleviate Black mental health disparities; Kimberly Inez McGuire, executive director for Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity; Rebekah Bruesehoff, 16-year-old author and LGBTQ+ activist; and Olivia Julianna, an abortion rights advocate.

Markle met Steinem, 89, about three years ago.

In 2020, the mom of two helped the feminist activist cold call Americans to encourage them to vote.

She was gifted a meaningful bracelet from the social justice advocate that reads, “Imagine we are linked, not ranked.”

“I’m not an expert on the media, but it seems to me that she is different from the picture of her in the media,” Steinem previously told People of Markle. “She’s smart and funny and devoted to social issues.”

The Duchess’ appearance Tuesday marks her first major public outing since her absence from King Charles III’s coronation on May 6. She was spotted that weekend hiking with friends near her Montecito, California home.

Her latest award comes weeks after it was announced she won a Gracie Award for her podcast “Archetypes.”

Markle and Harry were also honored as laureates at the Ripple of Hope Awards, hosted by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization, in December 2022.

The distinction is granted to “exemplary leaders across government, business, advocacy, and entertainment who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to social change and worked to protect and advance equity, justice, and human rights.”
