Meghan Markle’s turn as paralegal Rachel Zane on the drama “Suits” propelled her into instant fame.
The 42-year-old ex-actress made her infamous exit after seven seasons in 2018 when she married husband Prince Harry.
Her former costar Wendell Pierce — who played her father Robert Zane on the USA Network series — recently divulged what he said to her on her last day of filming the show.
In a clip for a forthcoming episode of “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” obtained by People, the character actor, 60, shared a story from her final scene.
“It was the last night of working and I said, ‘Meghan, your life is going to change, and you’re going to be in a bubble, but just always remember, no matter what, I’m your friend, you have lots of friends,’” he recalled to host Chris Wallace, 76.
Pierce continued: “‘We’re always thinking about you, we’ll always be there for you. And you know, no matter where you are, always know you have a friend in me.’”
The “Selma” actor also called the Duchess of Sussex “wonderful” as both a person and as an actress.
“She’s the nicest person ever,” he gushed, adding that she probably “would love to act again.”
Markle retired from acting when she joined the royal family in 2018.
Pierce then gave his two cents about Markle and Harry, 39, choosing to live in Montecito, Calif. after taking a step back as senior members of the Firm in 2020.
The “Malcolm X” star said that the “controversy and the life living in the public eye always takes on a life of its own.”
While being in the spotlight is “one of those things that sometimes you can’t control,” Pierce suggested that Markle and the Invictus Games founder should always “rely on [their] love.”
“You love this man. You love your two children,” Pierce said, referring to the Sussexes’ two kids, Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2.
“Do what’s best for all of you. And let that be your guiding light and your North Star.”
Despite “Suits” reaching its end in 2019, it has since seen a resurgence in popularity on Netflix. A spinoff is currently in the works titled “Suits: LA.” Stephen Amell was announced to helm the new legal drama on Feb. 14.
Members of the cast including Sarah Rafferty, Gina Torres, Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht reunited last month to present an award at the 2024 Golden Globes.
They came together once again for a fun Super Bowl commercial for e.l.f. cosmetics that aired on Feb. 11.
