Michael Strahan ‘GMA’ absence over ‘personal family matters’

Michael Strahan isn’t returning to “Good Morning America” just yet. The co-host has been missing from the ABC show for nearly two weeks and will continue to be out as he deals with a personal matter.

“Michael Strahan will not be with us this week as he is dealing with some personal family matters,” a network spokesperson said in a statement on Monday. “We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and concerns.”

The former NFL athlete typically works alongside Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Lara Spencer and Ginger Zee. His last appearance was on Oct. 26.

Amid his absence, Strahan has been replaced by either “Nightline” co-anchor Juju Chang or “World News Tonight” lead Linsey Davis.

He joined “GMA” full time as an anchor in 2016 following his exit from “Live With Kelly and Michael” opposite Kelly Ripa.

Additionally, Strahan has not shown up on Fox’s “NFL Sunday,” where he serves as an analyst. His co-host Curt Menefee noted over the weekend that Strahan would be out because he was dealing with a personal matter.

The former Giants defensive end last posted on social media on Oct. 25, when he promoted his other hosting role on “The $100,000 Pyramid.”

Over the summer, the TV personality also shared a sweet photo dropping off his youngest daughter, Sophia, at Duke University. “Can’t believe how time has flown by and I’m so proud of her. I know she’s going to crush college life!! #DukeDad,” he wrote on Instagram on Aug. 21.

“I know she’s a twin so @isabellastrahan pics coming soon! Lol,” he said of Sophia’s twin sister, Isabella, who will be attending USC. “I love you! 💙.”

Strahan has Isabella and Sophia with ex-wife Jean Muggli. He is also a dad to Tanita and Michael Jr., whom he has with his first wife, Wanda Hutchins.
