Mikael Kingsbury earns third successive World Cup victory in Alpe d’Huez, Elliot Vaillancourt claims silver

Mikael Kingsbury made it three World Cup wins on the spin with a dominant moguls triumph in Alpe d’Huez.

The 2018 Olympic champion, 31, beat Canadian compatriot Elliot Vaillancourt to follow up both his moguls and dual moguls victories in Idre Fjall last time out.

Vaillancourt narrowly pipped Japanese star Ikuma Horishima to silver as Swede Emil Holmgren missed out on a first World Cup podium of the season.

The triumph extended Kingsbury’s lead at the summit of the moguls standings heading into the final event of the year in Bakuriani next weekend.

Kiwi ace Jakara Anthony continued her perfect start to the season by grabbing her third consecutive moguls gold in the women’s event.

The Beijing Olympic champion, 25, toppled American duo Jaelin Kauf and Olivia Giaccio with another dominant display in the French mountains.

Kinsgbury and Anthony will bid to follow up their Friday victories in the dual moguls event tomorrow morning.
