Minnesota State Sen. Calvin Bahr caught voting shirtless over Zoom

A Minnesota state senator was caught on Zoom camera voting shirtless with his computer background an ode to Schoolhouse Rock’s “I’m Just a Bill” tune during a legislative meeting Monday morning.

State Sen. Calvin Bahr’s cringeworthy display promptly went viral — even though the camera that captured the moment during the Legislative Audit Commission’s meeting quickly shut off after he voted “yes” without a shirt.

His virtual background was a still of the anthropomorphic bill and the young boy he’s teaching in the educational children’s song that was actually written by Minnesota native Dave Frishberg.

“This video clip has been the joy of my entire day,” one social media user tweeted. “I’m not even joking.”

“Schoolhouse Rock is never going to look the same to me,” another user tweeted with a laughing emoji.

Democratic Minnesota State Sen. Nicole Mitchell tweeted, “The level of professionalism we get from some of our MN GOP members” along with an eye-roll emoji.

A GOP Senate spokesperson told the Star Tribune Bahr worked until 4:45 a.m. as a truck driver before getting some sleep in the Monday morning.

She said he won’t comment on the video.

Bahr is serving his first term in the state senate after he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives for six years.
