Missouri teen facing murder charge for giving fentanyl to girl who died: cops

A teenage boy has been arrested for murder after he allegedly gave fentanyl to a 16-year-old girl who overdosed and died.

Jacob Sayre, 17, was charged as an adult with second-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child, and delivery of a controlled substance on Thursday in Ozark, Missouri.

Investigators said the girl, who died in September and hasn’t been publicly identified, met with Sayre the night before she died. Authorities found a rolled-up $20 bill and a blue pill that had been cut on her nightstand after her death, KY3 reported.

Police found a note on the girl’s desk addressed to another friend, in which she wrote about their relationship and mentioned she was doing drugs. The letter stops abruptly with the phrase “I plan.”

Investigators also searched the girls phone and found a long conversation between her and Sayre on Snapchat, in which they discussed Sayre bringing her drugs.

“Just have a bucket near you and only snort a half, and it’s just one,” Sayre reportedly warned her. “Only do a quarter and then do the other quarter if you don’t feel it.”

In another message, the girl told Sayre said she cut the drug incorrectly and felt it starting to take effect.

Sayre later told investigators he met the girl at church and that he delivered the pill, but he claimed he did not know it was drugs, Missouri News reported.

An autopsy report found the girl had foam in her throat and had a fatal amount of fentanyl, as well as MDMA, in her system.

Sayre was released on $50,000 bail and is set to appear in court on Jan. 31.
