Mom shamed for throwing $27k nightclub themed party for daughter’s 11th birthday

Mom shamers have hit out at a prominent Australian publicist for hosting a nightclub themed birthday party for her 11-year-old daughter.

Roxy Jacenko, 43, held the lavish $27,000 bash for daughter Pixie Curtis in Sydney on Saturday, with a stylist, photographer and DJ all brought in for the festivities.

Photos shared to social media show the birthday girl partying with pals in an event space decked out with disco balls, balloons and custom-made neon lights. Fireworks and a flame-throwing mixologist were also featured at the bash.

But while Curtis looked to the loving her luxury party, haters hit out at her mom — who is a household name in Australia after making millions from her PR firm, Sweaty Betty.

“This is a gross display of wealth,” one raged beneath snaps shared by Jacenko from the party.

“Some people have too much money…. and out of touch with the real world. Spoilt to the max,” second snapped.

Meanwhile, another claimed the festivity was tone deaf given that many families are pinching pennies amid soaring inflation.

“They have the money and can afford to do what they please but I feel as so many people can’t afford to pay their rent and buy food, it is in bad taste to flaunt it in the media,” they declared.

Jacenko quickly hit back, appearing on national television to defend her daughter’s birthday.

“The reality is we are here for a short time and I want to make sure that my children have the best opportunities they can,” the mom declared.

“I had cancer, we have lived a life that has been under scrutiny a lot, so I want to make the most of my life because you don’t know what happens tomorrow,” she added.

The PR guru further explained that her daughter had become a young entrepreneur in her own right, after creating the toy company Pixie’s Pix during Covid.

“It was a celebration of not only her 11th birthday but her business,” Jackeno declared, also revealing that her daughter donates toys to a local children’s hospital.

This isn’t the first time the famous mother-daughter duo hit international headlines.

Last December, Jacenko made news after revealing her daughter could retire at the age of 15, with Pixie’s Pix estimated to make $21 million in the next decade.
