Morgan Wallen chastises fans after they boo Taylor Swift during show
Morgan Wallen doesn’t want “bad blood” with Taylor Swift.
The disgraced country singer unintentionally whipped his fans into a frenzy on Friday night after he told them that they had set an attendance record for Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, joking that he would boast the title “until Taylor Swift comes to town.”
“They told me right before I walked on stage that this is the single most-attended concert in the history of this building,” Wallen, 30, told a cheering crowd in a video uploaded to TikTok. “And that we are the first people to do that two nights in a row.”
“I’m going to say that until Taylor Swift comes to town in the fall,” the country singer said good-naturedly.
Despite his good intentions, the “Whiskey Glasses” crooner‘s remarks were met with a tidal wave of boos when Swift’s name was mentioned.
“We ain’t got to boo, we ain’t got to boo,” the country star said as many fans continued to express their displeasure.
Wallen then thanked his fans for their loyalty and appreciated how they “got my back.”
Since being posted, several Swifties and fans of the country singer have praised the way he handled the situation.
“Greatest recognizing greatness,” one person commented.
“Love Morgan! He will always have a fan in me, but a lot of his fans are questionable lol I’m also a Swiftie!! Love to see my fave artists thriving and not downing each other,” praised a second person.
“Morgan and Taylor are my top 2 favorite artists! It’s okay to love them both,” a third person declared.
“He’s not joking. He’s acknowledging that she will dethrone him of that record. Greatness acknowledges greatness. People booing suck,” explained a fourth user.
Swift, 34, is scheduled to perform three sold-out shows at the Lucas Oil Stadium at the beginning of November a fact that promoted Wallen to make the comment in the first place.
The freshly-minted billionaire is currently on a small hiatus from her world-renowned Era’s Tour and, according to her website, resume the international tour in May starting in Paris, France.
In the meantime, Swift’s brand-new album “The Tortured Poets Department” is set to hit the airwaves on April 19, after she announced the LP during the 2024 Grammy Awards after securing the win for Best Pop Vocal Album.
