Morgane Charre and Jesse Melamed run the table in Mountain Bike Enduro World Cup outdoor region finale

Morgane Charre of Pivot Factory Racing and Canyon CLLCTV Factory Enduro Team’s Jesse Melamed left the crowds in no doubt about their superiority after a pair of supreme rides on the trails of Pietra Ligure.

High above the Ligurian Sea, the duo rode to victory in the UCI Mountain Bike Enduro World Cup in Finale Outdoor Region.

Each rider won two stages across six challenging, high speed tracks. Charre closed out a 14 second victory over Italian Gloria Scarsi at the end of the 56km day of racing.

Isabeau Courdurier, Charre’s French compatriot and last year’s winner, finished third.

Charre led from start to finish, taking out the first two stages before defending her lead throughout the afternoon despite the irrepressible challenge of Scarsi. The Italian, pushed along by the boisterous crowd, won a stage late in the day to push Charre but could not fully close the gap.

In the men’s side of the competition, Melamed had to reel in his opponents after a slow start, taking the lead midway through the day. Fellow Canadian Rhys Verner had been the rider to beat after taking the first stage and finished only five seconds behind Melamed.

Frenchman Alex Rudeau was a further two seconds back in third place.

In the U21s, Emmy Lan of the Forbidden Synthesis Team delivered another victory for Canada, while France’s Lily Planquart prevented Elly Hoskin making it a Canadian double.

The U21 men saw victory for Specialized Enduro Team’s Raphael Giambi, while Scotland’s William Brodie was second. Alexis Icardo, another French rider for Canyon CLLCTV Dainese ended up third.
