Mountain Dew is bringing this fan-favorite flavor back
Get ready for the FanDEWmonium!
Mountain Dew just announced the re-release of its “fan-favorite” Typhoon flavor, a tropical fruit-punch twist on the original flavor.
Fans can thank DEWmocracy for the return of the “highly requested” flavor, the company said in its announcement.
To try a sip of the pinkish-orange soda, fans will need to be a member of Dew HQ, the brand’s free rewards program.
After joining the Dew crew, members will be able to purchase single 16-ounce cans of Mtn Dew Typhoon from the Dew Store for $12 beginning June 1 at noon.
But sugary-soda lovers better act quick: Mountain Dew warned that this one-time release will be available for purchase only until supplies last, with each customer restricted to a max of two cases per order.
“The throwback flavor strikes again — MTN DEW TYPHOON is back. A storm of refreshing fruity punch on your taste buds,” the announcement said.
Rumors of Typhoon’s return bubbled up on Reddit as Dew-hard fans expressed their excitement for the flavor that fizzled out a decade ago.
The drink (previously known as Flavor #509) was first released in 2010 as a finalist during the DEWmocracy II promotion, and then again for a limited time in 2011, according to the Mountain Dew Wiki.
Mountain Dew is known for its multitude of neon flavors and for collabs like Taco Bell’s Baja Blast and Mtn Dew x Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. This limited-edition Typhoon has already sent a wave of fans spiraling.
“I voted so hard for Typhoon, I can’t believe it’s coming back!!!” @KarmaAlien13 tweeted.
“Setting the date now,” @drwill08 commented.
