Musk says Biden may try to ‘weaponize’ government against Twitter if Trump returns
Twitter CEO Elon Musk didn’t hold back any punches after saying the Biden administration could “weaponize” federal agencies against Twitter if former President Donald Trump returned to the platform.
“Will be interesting to see how the Biden administration reacts to this,” Musk tweeted Wednesday. “They may try to weaponize Federal agencies against Twitter.”
Musk’s post was in response to a user’s tweet regarding Trump’s rumored return to Twitter and Facebook following his lengthy ban from the platforms.
According to NBC News, Trump’s presidential campaign asked Facebook’s parent company, Meta, to grant him access to his social media accounts.
Trump’s Twitter account was shut down following the US Capitol riot in Jan. 2021. Musk restored Trump’s personal Twitter account on Nov. 19 after he conducted a public poll.
He has yet to post on Twitter since his reinstatement.
Trump has been active on his Truth Social account — the former president’s own social media platform he created when Twitter banned him from their services. However, the president stated no plans to return to Twitter.
“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump told Fox News. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.”
