The 39-year-old had previously failed in two title challenges before landing the belts, and has suggested she may look to retire in the medium turn, though she has mentioned high-profile potential opponents such as Katie Taylor, the undisputed lightweight champion.

Jonas secured a stoppage in the eighth round as she dominated her Canadian opponent, and afterwards told Sky Sports: “I can’t sum that up. Thank you to everyone who spent their hard earned money to be here.”

Jonas opened the fight aggressively which had Wyatt unsettled from the off, but steadied the pace to make sure she did not tire out.

As well as Taylor, Terri Harper could be one potential opponent to line up next, as could the winner of Sandy Ryan vs. Jessica McCasskill.

“All I know next is a holiday,” she added. “I want to go away for a whole month and enjoy my family.”
