Neighbor arrested after woman found mutilated on Easter

A North Carolina man slashed his neighbor in a demonic Easter Sunday murder before surrounding her mutilated body with salt and makeshift wooden crosses, officials said.

Miguel Gonzales-Rasalas was arrested — with blood and scratches on his face — that day for the demented murder of 35-year-old Laura Miller inside her east Charlotte apartment complex.

Prosecutors revealed in court Tuesday that the woman’s face was shredded “to the point it was unrecognizable,” according to Live 5 News.

Gonzales-Rasalas, 36, allegedly wrapped a wire multiple times around Miller’s neck, bound her ankles with a cable and burned both of her inner thighs.

He is accused of slicing her from her neck to her belly button and severing her tongue, which was found in the unit’s dining room.

Human tissue was found “scattered” throughout the apartment, prosecutors said.

Before fleeing the scene in Miller’s car, Gonzales-Rasalas allegedly poured salt around her desecrated body and broke apart her table to craft three crosses he placed around her.

Prosecutors said Miller’s brother was the first to find her destroyed body and called the police.

Cops believe the murder was not a random act of violence — Gonzales-Rasalas and his victim reportedly knew one another and were described as “acquaintances.”

Neighbors told WSOC-TV that Gonzales-Rasalas and Miller both lived in the same building and often argued with one another.

One neighbor said the accused killer showed up at Miller’s doorstep three days before the murder with a baseball bat.

“He was asking Laura to open the door or else he was going to kill her,” the neighbor told the station.

Gonzales-Rasalas was quickly identified as a person of interest and was arrested during a traffic stop, cops said.

He faces charges of murder, desecrating a body and vehicular theft. He is being held without bond.
