Neil Patrick Harris slammed for ‘disgusting’ Nick Jonas comments
Despite a near 20-year age gap, Neil Patrick Harris was a big fan of the Jonas Brothers — perhaps too big, some now say.
Nick Jonas, 30, was still a twinkle in his parents’ eyes when Harris, 49, found fame as kid doctor “Doogie Howser, M.D.”
Now, the “How I Met Your Mother” star is seeing backlash on social media after comments he made about a young Jonas resurfaced on Tuesday.
The controversy stems from a 2015 episode of “The Wendy Williams Show” — with Harris confessing his attraction to the young boy-bander before it was “allowed,” admitting it could be seen as “a bit of a problem.”
The revelation was made when host Williams put Harris in the “hot seat,” asking who his “celebrity crush” was.
In a clip of the segment, Harris appears to hesitate before prefacing that his husband David Burtka was aware of his feelings, so it was OK to share on network TV.
“David knows it, so I guess it’s not a bad thing to say,” remarked Harris.
“Nick Jonas,” he then answered.
“And he was really good-looking before it was kind of allowed to think he was good-looking,” Harris continued. “Which was a bit of a problem, you kind of had to wait til he turned to be, you know… 19, 20. You’re like, ‘What is happening?’”
Jonas, who was one-third of the teen heartthrob band the Jonas Brothers, was 22 years old at the time of the interview.
The segment was reshared earlier this month on TikTok, gaining 350,000 views and a lot of criticism. “How do celebs get away with comments like this? He was 42 here,” read a caption on the video.
“This is completely inappropriate,” one viewer echoed.
Added another, “Y’all realize a person doesn’t change AT ALL from 17 to 18 right.”
Others noted Harris’ alleged past public transgressions, with one alleging that “Neil is always doing something problematic.”
However, some on TikTok came to the former child’s star’s defense.
“Why would they not get away with this? Simply saying this is no criminal offense,” one fan said.
“Don’t come for my man,” another commented.
The Post reached out to both Harris and Jonas for comment.
