New audio tapes detail Diana’s ‘ridiculous’ marriage to Charles

Twenty-six years after Princess Diana’s untimely death, never-before-heard audio of her describing her “ridiculous” marriage to the now-King Charles has been released.

Tapes recorded by author Andrew Morton for his bombshell 1992 book, “Diana: Her True Story,” have been released for the first time ever, which will be included in the upcoming documentary “Diana: The Rest of Her Story.”

In a snippet heard on “Good Morning America” on Friday, the People’s Princess describes her crazy marriage to Charles, 74.

“It was so grown up. Here’s Diana, a kindergarten teacher. I mean the whole thing was ridiculous,” she says.

Another newly-released tape revealed how the former Prince of Wales was “disappointed” when he found out their youngest son, Prince Harry, was not a girl.

Diana — who died in 1997 at the age of 36 — claimed on the record that Charles had expressed his sadness to her stepmother, Raine Spencer, at Harry’s christening back in 1984.

“My husband won’t even talk to Mummy, barely,” she says. “Because of Harry’s christening, Charles went up to Mummy and said, ‘You know, we were so disappointed, we thought it would be a girl.’

“And Mummy snapped his head off,” she continues, “and said, ‘You should realize how lucky you are to have a child that’s normal.’”

“Ever since that day, the shutters have come down,” she adds. “That’s what he does when he gets somebody answering back at him.”

Tom Jennings produced the forthcoming documentary special and told “GMA” that “it is important as part of Diana’s legacy to allow more of those tapes to be heard.”

The forthcoming film will also detail Diana’s relationship with her stepmom, as heard in audio clips of the princess released Friday.

“I was so angry,” Diana says in one. “I said, ‘I hate you so much. If you only knew how much we all hated you for what you’ve done. You ruined the house. You spent daddy’s money. I have said everything I possibly could.’ Raine said, You have no idea how much pain your mother put your father through.’

“I said, ‘Pain, Raine? It’s one word you don’t even know how to relate to,” she adds. “‘In my job I see people suffer like you never see. You call that pain? I said you’ve got a lot to learn.’ I remember really going for her gullet.”

The new film is a follow-up to the 2017 doc “Diana: In Her Own Words,” in which previously unseen footage was shared and provided insight into the short life of Diana.

Charles and Diana divorced in 1996 after tying the knot in 1981. Alleged cheating by both parties was one of the main causes of their split.

Diana struggled with her bulimia after learning that Charles had been unfaithful to her with Camilla Parker Bowles (now Queen Camilla), the doc explained.

Her close friend Dr. James Colthurst, who gave the tapes to Morton, alleged that she went on a downward spiral after discovering Charles’ affair.

“You could see her fading physically,” Colthurst said. “It was clear to all those who knew her that the bulimia was a reaction to the circumstances she found herself in.”

The princess’ ballet teacher, Anne Allan, was also interviewed for the production, saying, “She loved Charles, yes, but Charles loved another woman.

“It’s very hard for anyone when you love someone and you realize that perhaps they don’t love you. I think it made her very sad, devastated,” Allan added. “She felt that she wasn’t enough.”
