Norway’s Kristine Stavaas Skistad and Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo take sprint victories in Falun

Norway’s Kristine Stavaas Skistad upset home favourite Linn Svahn for women’s sprint classic victory in Falun.

The 25-year-old clinched gold in a time of 3:16.11 in the final, 1.18 seconds ahead of Sweden’s Svahn.

The two were toe-to-toe heading into the final, with overall Cup standings leader Svahn taking the spoils over Skistad by just 0.15 seconds in a storming semi-final that included all three of the eventual medal winners.

Sweden’s Jonna Sundling took bronze, 1.56 seconds behind winner Skistad who claimed her fourth victory of the season.

Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo made it two for two for Norway, clinching men’s sprint classic gold in a time of 2:56.78.

Victory wrapped up a staggering 14 World Cup wins this season for Klaebo as he beat his competition by 1.15 seconds to continue his reign at the top of the sprint World Cup standings.

Finland’s Lauri Vuorinen grabbed silver with Norway’s Harald Oestberg Amundsen taking bronze.
