NY Democrat who blasted NYC migrant buses mocks the ‘ignorance’ of locals during ongoing crisis: ‘They are feareful’

A hypocritical upstate New York Democrat privately unloaded on his constituents’ opposition to the busing of migrants to their towns — months after he publicly lambasted Mayor Adams for the “policy failure” of sending them there.

State Sen. John Mannion, who launched a bid for New York’s hotly contested 22nd congressional district in July, was caught on a Sept. 14 Zoom call discussing “the migrant issue” with other Democratic candidates, Fox News reported.

“I represent those very Republican areas,” Mannion said in the leaked call.

“They are fearful that buses of migrants are going to come into where they live and change their community,” he continued.

“It is just unbelievable to me, but I’m not surprised at the ignorance.”

In May, Mannion blasted Adams for shuttling a busload of asylum seekers to a hotel in Salina, N.Y., a town in his state senate district, which stretches from Syracuse to Oswego.

“New York City’s unilateral decision to send migrants four hours away from their destination of choice is a policy failure playing out in real time,” Mannion told NewsChannel 9.

“This situation is not fair to the migrants or the communities I represent.”

Mannion, who is campaigning to unseat GOP Rep. Brandon Williams in New York’s swing 22nd congressional district, has publicly criticized Mayor Adams for busing migrants upstate.

Rep. Brandon Williams, the freshman Republican who won the swing NY-22 congressional seat in 2022 by just 4,000 votes, told The Post that Mannion and his fellow Democrats were to blame for the Biden administration’s spiraling border crisis — and ridiculed his opponent’s gaffe.

“John Mannion says you’re ignorant for sharing common-sense concerns about the migrant crisis threatening NY-22,” Williams said.

“Insulting voters who care about public safety isn’t the best way to launch a campaign, John.”
