NYC driver fatally strikes pedestrian crossing street in Queens

A pedestrian was hit and killed by the driver of a car while trying to cross a street in Queens Friday night, police said.

The 64-year-old man was struck near the intersection of Seagirt Avenue and Beach 30th Street in Far Rockaway at about 6:50 p.m., cops said.

A 26-year-old man driving a black Jeep Wrangler was heading eastbound on Seagirt Avenue when he hit the man, who police said was attempting to cross the street mid-block.

The 64-year-old man was struck around 6:50 p.m. last night.

The pedestrian suffered severe trauma to his body and was transported by first responders to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver remained at the scene. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
