NYPD accused of forcing son of Elie Wiesel to put away Israeli flag during NYC protest

The son of late Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel says cops forced him to put away his Israeli flag as he confronted a pro-Palestinian demonstrator during a massive rally in Penn Station on Monday.

Elisha Weisel, 51, posted a video on X of himself draped in the flag while heatedly arguing with the protester, who wore a black mask over his face.

The protester calls out Weisel for coming to the Manhattan rally wearing the Israeli flag, while the former Goldman Sachs executive blasts the man for describing his flag as a symbol of “terrorism.”

“Take off your mask,” Weisel says as he grabs the other man’s hand in an attempt to move away the phone recording him.

“Don’t touch me, buddy,” the protester warns as Weisel keeps telling him to take off his mask.

Weisel continues to call the protester a coward for hiding behind the face covering, with the masked man growing irritate, until a nearby NYPD officer witnessing the interaction broke the men up.

Weisel later claimed on social media that NYPD officers told him to remove the flag from his back as the “situation was getting dangerous.”

He added that the police would not let him continue his counter-protest.

The New York Police Department did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment Tuesday.

Separately, “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin also got into a heated shouting match with the protesters in Penn Station.

When he was asked if he condemned Israel, Baldwin replied, “No, I support peace for Gaza.”

One irate protester shouted at Baldwin: “Shut your f–king mouth, you have no f–king shame!”

Another yelled, “Your career’s tanking, by the way!”

Penn Station was just one site of pro-Palestinian protests that consumed Midtown on Monday night, with hundreds of people also marching to Grand Central Station and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

The protesters called for a cease-fire in Gaza, where nearly 20,000 people have been killed during the war, according to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health.

The NYPD said six people were arrested during Monday’s pro-Palestinian protests in the city and that those busted were between the ages of 19 and 40.
