Octavia Spencer’s cryptic warning resurfaces amid Britney Spears’ divorce from Sam Asghari

Octavia Spencer knew there was something “toxic” about Britney Spears’ marriage.

The actress’ controversial comment on Spears’ engagement photo resurfaced Wednesday after it was announced that the “Stronger” singer and her husband, Sam Asghari, would be divorcing after nearly a year of marriage.

Spencer, 53, initially shocked fans of the singer when she wrote, “Make him sign a prenup,” in the comment section of a video posted by Spears following her engagement in September 2021.

The “Ma” actress quickly deleted her comment despite several fans applauding her bluntness.

“Y’all, a few days ago Sam and Britney announced their engagement and me being me I made a joke,” Spencer later commented. “My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain. I’ve reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologize and now want to restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of.”

The Post reached out to Spencer, Spears and Asghari for comment.

According to reports, Asghari, 29, filed for divorce after he and the “Womanizer” singer reportedly had an “explosive” fight over cheating rumors.

A source close to the couple told TMZ that Asghari confronted Spears, 41, about the allegations.

“It’s only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce,” one of the insiders told TMZ.

The couple had previously denied the rumors that their marriage was on the rocks when Asghari took to Instagram to slam the “disgusting” rumors.

“Ninety-nine percent of the time those are all clickbait [stories] for you to click and for them to make money, and that time is over,” he said in a since-deleted video from May.

Since news of the impending divorce broke, Spears has reportedly hired a high-powered divorce lawyer to enforce the prenup signed by the personal trainer.

Asghari allegedly also intends to fight the prenup, which reportedly works in the songstress’s favor, by threatening to release “extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”

Since rumors of the split began circulating, several fans have been reposting the comment as a symbol of solidarity on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

“THROWBACK! She got dragged for this, but @octaviaspencer is like an Auntie we all need in our lives,” wrote one X user alongside a picture of the comment.

“Everyone say ‘Thank you, Octavia,’” joked a second user.

“Mother Octavia always knows what’s up,” commented a third.
