Omid Scobie’s book shares things royals ‘should be ashamed of’

Omid Scobie is writing another book about the royal family, and friends of Prince William and King Charles believe they will “keep calm and carry on.”

Scobie’s upcoming tome, titled “Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival,” is expected to be highly disparaging of the royal family — a flip from his supportive biography of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, “Finding Freedom.”

The journalist wrote in an op-ed this week that the nonfiction work — which was delayed three months so it could include “sensational details” about the coronation of King Charles III — will dissect the royal family’s successes, as well as things they “should be ashamed of.”

Scobie described the book as “an unfiltered investigation into the current state of the royal family” that has “details on unsolved mysteries.”

“Just like this country’s politicians, the royals are not, and should not be, above reproach — no matter how desperately certain press secretaries may want you to think so,” he wrote in the newspaper.

“Finding Freedom” was mainly told from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s perspective, but this book is expected to not be framed in their narrative, the Daily Beast reported.

Meghan briefed Scobie and his co-author Carolyn Durand through a third party for the 2020 book, which contained many personal anecdotes of the Sussex’s personal lives.

It wouldn’t be likely the Sussexes would permit Scobie to write another book from their point of view looking back at their royal life with displeasure as their popularity continues to wane — but there’s also very little belief that the author will paint Prince William and Princess Kate in a positive light.

“In order to tell a full story, it has to be written without fear [or] favour — regardless of the consequences,” Scobie said. “At a time when more people than ever are questioning the relevancy, purpose and role of the monarchy in modern Britain, the need for thorough, spin-free and well-rounded insight and reporting has never been more important than it is now.”

He continued, “As well as speaking with those involved in some of the most defining and controversial royal moments in recent years, the book also brings new details on unsolved mysteries as well as stories you will be reading about for the very first time.”

Although a friend of William told the Daily Beast that the prince won’t be reading the book — just as he didn’t read Scobie’s first book or Harry’s bombshell memoir “Spare,” and didn’t watch Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docuseries.

“The idea that William is going to be distracted from his work by even thinking about Omid Scobie’s new book is fanciful,” the friend told the outlet.

A friend of King Charles also shared that the monarch can’t be bothered, saying he’s “seen it all before,” and “he will keep calm and carry on.”

“Endgame” will hit stores November 21.
