One killed, three wounded after shooting at LA shopping center
One person was killed and three others were wounded after a gunman opened fire in the parking lot of a Los Angeles Trader Joe’s on Saturday, according to local authorities.
Police responded to a shooting at a busy shopping center in West Hills near Fallbrook Avenue and Vanowen Street around 3:45 p.m., police said.
Four people were shot in total, the Los Angeles Fire Department told Fox 11.
A 45-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other victims — two 35-year-old women and a 45-year-old man — were taken to area hospitals in serious condition, officials said.
The LAPD said the suspected shooter had been taken into custody.
He has not yet been identified.
The gunman “may be known to the victims,” LAPD Officer J. Chaves told City News Service.
It was unclear if the shooting was gang-related.
Additional information on the shooting was not immediately available.
Businesses being cordoned off near the scene include a Trader Joe’s, a Chili’s restaurant and a Bob’s Discount Furniture store, according to local reports.
