‘One of the best I’ve seen!’ – Ding Junhui makes ‘sensational’ escape pot from Ronnie O’Sullivan snooker
Ding Junhui pulled off a ridiculous escape pot during his victory over Ronnie O’Sullivan at the Six Red World Championship in Thailand.
Leading 4-2 in the best-of-11 encounter, Ding was pinned on the top cushion with the two remaining reds hidden by the colours. He had his eye on a red perched near the bottom right pocket, despite his route being blocked by the middle pocket and the other balls spread around the table.
So he improvised. The Chinese star stunned the white into the left cushion, changing its original course to send it skimming across the table and into the red for an outrageous pot.

“That is a sensational shot, that really is magnificent,” lauded Neal Foulds on Eurosport commentary.
“He stunned it into the cushion. I can honestly say that is one of the best escapes I’ve seen out of a snooker for a while. It was only one cushion but he changed the angle, that was a marvellous shot from Ding.”
The shot propelled Ding into a 5-2 lead, with the former world finalist in the traditional 15-red format completing victory in the next frame.
Ding is chasing his first title since the 2019 UK Championship, having slipped down the world rankings in recent years.
