Parent arrested after entering school cafeteria to eat with son

A Pennsylvania parent was arrested Wednesday for entering a school cafeteria “to have lunch” with their son.

The incident happened in Washington County, outside Pittsburgh, at 10:45 a.m. after the unidentified parent came to a charter school for a parent-teacher conference, according to a letter from California Area School District Superintendent Laura Jacob.

The parent “blatantly disregarded all directives” to go the conference room, instead heading to the cafeteria to “have lunch with their son,” Jacob wrote.

After the parent challenged “further directives” from school staff and police, they were “escorted out of the building, handcuffed and arrested.”

A “no trespass” order was set to be issued against the suspect, according to the letter.

“If a parent or any other individual disregards these protocols by accessing the building unattended, it is a breach of school security, leading to arrest and legal action under trespassing laws and school safety policies,” Jacob said. 

California Borough police declined to provide additional information about the arrest to The Post.
