Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Antoine Griezmann to ‘do everything’ to play for France this summer
France and Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann says he will “do everything to participate” at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
The 32-year-old has enjoyed a successful career on the international stage with the France national team during his career so far.
He was the top goalscorer at the European Championships in 2016, which were held in France, but suffered a heartbreaking ending as Portugal defeated the hosts in the final.
Griezmann was also a key member of the France squad that went on to win the 2018 World Cup in Russia before he helped Les Bleus reach the final once again last year in Qatar, where they lost out to Argentina on penalties.
However, Griezmann has not been part of an Olympics team with his national side and has his sights set on featuring at this year’s summer Games in the French capital.
He added that he would “do everything to participate” at the Olympics because “it’s something exceptional”.
“We will be in front of the television and behind all the French athletes to encourage them,” he said. “The Olympic Games are always a moment that I love, and I love watching it with my children.”
Speaking about his own potential workload if he participates at the Games this summer, he added: “I know my body, we have very high-level physiotherapists, so there is no problem.”
When asked about Mbappe’s potential arrival to Spain, Griezmann replied: “He would be very welcomed in Spain. I’d be very happy to play derbies against him.”
