Mads Pedersen became the first Danish rider to lead the overall standings at Paris-Nice since 1970 after he won the second stage of this year’s event. A crash with barely 1km to go and a fast run-in caused mayhem at the finish and it was Pedersen who emerged on top from Olav Kooij in a very tight finish, where several riders were closely compact together at the line.
