Paris Saint-Germain ‘not a proper team’ – Owen Hargreaves after Bayern Munich net Champions League first-leg win
PSG were boosted by the return of Lionel Messi from a hamstring injury as the Argentine joined Neymar upfront in a 4-4-2 system, but the French champions were second best – certainly in the opening 75 minutes – as Kinsley Coman returned to haunt them once more.
But boss Christophe Galtier will at least be boosted by his side’s late flourish, with substitute Kylian Mbappe, a surprise inclusion on the bench following injury, providing some attacking impetus late on. The Frenchman had an equaliser chalked off by VAR for offside as PSG belatedly threatened to snatch a draw.

However it was ultimately a familiar tale for the Parisians, who again saw their stellar attacking cast come up short in a big game, with Hargreaves taking aim at the lack of defensive contribution from their big names.
“They’ve got some world-class individuals but they’re not a proper team,” Hargreaves said on BT Sport.
“Out of possession, they almost playing with two or three less [players].”
He continued: “Bayern played pretty well but I think they can play even better. If they can get [Sadio] Mane back into the side, I think they will be quietly confident. The better team won today.”

Bayern welcome PSG to the Allianz Arena for the second leg on March 8 – and Joe Cole still believes PSG have a good chance of progressing.
“The better team won,” he said. “Bayern looked organised, looked like they had a gameplan, the pressing was good.
“But the game’s in the balance. It’s advantage Bayern Munich but I think when they go to the Allianz it’s going to be a hell of a game, and I think PSG could still get out of this tie.”
