Passengers stretchered off Delta flight after ‘severe turbulence’ injures 11

New footage showed the troubling moment multiple passengers had to be stretchered off a Delta flight after their plane struck “severe turbulence” just outside Atlanta Tuesday night — leaving 11 people hospitalized.

Passengers and flight attendants were among those injured when Flight 175 — en route from Milan, Italy — hit turbulence just before 7 p.m., the airline and federal authorities said.

Footage shared on social media showed at least two people being carried on stretchers down the aisle of the Airbus A350 after it landed safely at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

One woman, believed to be a flight attendant, was escorted off the plane wearing a head bandage and neck brace, while a passenger could be seen holding a large ice pack to her head, the video shows.

Several crew members were also filmed sporting neck braces as they sat in wheelchairs inside the terminal.

The passenger who shot the video, Instagram user @helloayo, recalled how the plane suddenly “dropped” when it hit the turbulence — sending many, including herself, “flying up out their seats.”

“One woman hit the overhead bin and cracked it. There were several injuries including most of the flight attendants,” she posted on social media.

“We made an emergency landing and the non-seriously injured had to stay on the plane until a new flight crew came in because you can’t debark without one.”

A couple onboard, who didn’t want to be named, told Fox5 that passengers had to remain on the aircraft for about two hours while the injured, including some who appeared to have “serious head injuries”, were triaged and escorted off.

“Bunch of blood and awfulness,” the passenger said of the scene onboard. “My fiancée and I are so freaked out, we are renting a car and driving to our final destination instead.”

The flight encountered turbulence about 40 miles out from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

In total, 11 passengers and crew members were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries, Delta said in a statement.

The conditions of those injured — or the extent of the injuries — weren’t immediately clear.

The airline didn’t immediately respond to The Post on Wednesday.

“Delta Care Team members are mobilizing to connect with customers,” Delta said in a statement. “Our priority is taking care of our customers and crew who sustained injuries.”

The airline said Delta agents were providing food, lodging and re-booking for the uninjured customers impacted by delays.
