Pat Sajak bluntly tells ‘Wheel of Fortune’ contestant: No chance at winning

Pat Sajak really bankrupted this man’s hope of winning.

The “Wheel of Fortune” host was back to his old tricks after telling a contestant Friday that he had no chance of solving the bonus puzzle.

The awkward moment came after the contestant failed to solve the bonus category “What Are You Doing?”

Giving the contestant the standard “R, S, T, L, N, E” letters, Sajak, 76, asked the man, identified as Jack, to give him “three more consonants and a vowel.”

Choosing the letters “D, C, H and I,” Sajak’s beloved co-host Vanna White, 66, did little to improve Jack’s chances.

Now reading “_ _ R_IN_ _ _NDS,” Sajak told the player to “do his best” within the 10 seconds that are provided to solve the puzzle.

Jack ultimately failed to solve the riddle, which was revealed to be “Forming Bonds.”

“Sorry that didn’t work out for you,” Sajak bluntly said as the audience groaned. “You needed another letter or two to have any chance of winning.”

Jack’s night further went downhill after it was revealed that had he solved the puzzle, he would have won an additional $75,000.

Grimacing at the substantial loss, Sajak showed the audience the golden card.

“This is a just a number printed on cardboard. He has actual money,” Sajak said, attempting to make light of the situation. Jack’s total prize money was $71,700.

Sajak’s blunt remarks come after the game show host had been blasted multiple times online for being rude to contestants.

In May 2023, he snapped at a contestant for continually answering puzzles incorrectly, asking the woman “why are you bothering?”

Earlier that month, Sajak told a fan-favorite contestant “don’t ever do it again,” after the 22-year-old grabbed the envelope in the game show’s bonus round.

Sajak was also slammed by fans when one contestant was given an “impossible” bonus puzzle — “that was a pivotal factor.”

Sajak’s other eyebrow-raising behavior has included putting a contestant in a chokehold, claiming he hides in letter-turner White’s garden, and asking a contestant to remove his shirt.

In June, Sajak tweeted that the show’s 41st season, which debuted in September, would be his last.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” wrote Sajak on X (formerly Twitter). “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)”

It was later confirmed that Ryan Seacrest would be taking over for Sajak while White remained at her iconic letter board.

I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak,” Seacrest, 48, said in a statement. “I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them.”

“Pat, I love the way you’ve always celebrated the contestants and made viewers at home feel at ease,” he added. “I look forward to learning everything I can from you during this transition.”
