Pat Sajak takes jab at ‘Wheel of Fortune’ contestant over wrong answer

A “Wheel of Fortune” contestant unfortunately missed out on the grand prize after losing “one of the easiest final puzzles ever.”

The player — who goes by the name Ashwin — was also seemingly scoffed at by game show host Pat Sajak on Tuesday’s episode over his wrong guesses.

The Georgia-based professor had made it all the way to the game’s bonus round and opted to select the “Person” category.

Seven letters were missing from the answer and a certain special reward.

Ashwin needed to answer the full two-word phrase correctly in order to win in under 10 seconds.

“Uh, mechanical expert, principal expert, whimsical expert,” Ashwin stuttered, sounding unsure of his answers.

Once the buzzer rang, Sajak, 75, couldn’t help but deride the player. “We were thinking money here — ‘Financial expert,’” Sajak said.

“That was one of the easiest final puzzles ever… come on, dude!” a commenter wrote about Ashwin’s incorrect answer.

“Well you disappointed your financial expert,” Sajak said. “Let’s see what we didn’t get.”

He then opened the bonus prize card and it revealed an Infinity SUV.

“Well it was the Infinity which would have been awfully nice,” Sajak kept going on as Ashwin’s smile faded.

“Still a good night,” Ashwin chimed in. He wound up not getting the car but left with $23,000.

Commenters on YouTube were unhappy with Ashwin’s answer, with one fan writing: “That was one of the easiest final puzzles ever… come on, dude!”

Another person said the mishap was the “Epic Fail Of This Season.”

Sajak has been serving as host of the long-running game show for 41 years, however, he’s on the brink of retirement.

Last month, he noted that he’s almost at “the end” of his time on “Wheel of Fortune.”

“We’re getting near the end,” he told “Entertainment Tonight.” “It’s been a long [time]. We’re not gonna do this for another 40 years. The end is near.”

“It’s an honor to have been in people’s living rooms for that long,” he added. “We’re happy and proud.”
