Pebbles, the oldest dog in the world, dead at 22

Farewell old girl.

Pebbles — the world’s oldest dog at age 22 — died Monday at her home in South Carolina, just months away from her 23rd birthday, said the dog’s Instagram account.

The 4-pound toy fox terrier, who won the title of oldest canine last May from Guinness World Records, passed away of natural causes after spending her final months alongside her owners Bobby and Julie Gregory, according to a press release.

“She was a once-in-a-lifetime companion, and it was our honor to have had the blessing to have had her as a pet, and family member,” wrote Julie Gregory. “She will be deeply missed.”

Pebbles was born on March 28, 2000, in New York and was awarded the Guinness title when her owners realized their pup was older than the previous record holder, TobyKeith — who was 21.

“Bobby was sitting on the couch and friends and family started texting and calling about a story they saw about a 21-year-old dog getting the record,” Julie Gregory told Guinness World Records.

“When I saw TobyKeith’s story all over the news, I applied.”

Pebbles and her late partner Rocky — who died in 2016 — both enjoyed listening to country music and had 32 puppies together.

On her last birthday, Pebbles enjoyed a bubble bath and plate of ribs.

“She impacted everyone she encountered,” wrote Gregory.

“There was never anyone who met Pebbles that didn’t love her. She will be deeply missed.”
