Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman to miss Biden’s visit

Another Democrat on the run … maybe from Joe Biden.

Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman — who is in a dogfight of a Senate seat race against Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz — will be a no show when President Biden makes a stop in the battleground state on Tuesday, the White House confirmed.

Fetterman won’t be attending the event in Wilkes-Barre where Biden is set to give a speech about crime and gun safety.

“My understanding is he had an existing event,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during Monday’s briefing without elaborating.

She also refused to be drawn on whether Biden, a Pennsylvania native, was disappointed the Democratic Senate nominee wouldn’t be there to rally with him.

Fetterman’s office didn’t immediately respond to The Post’s query about his upcoming absence.

Word of the no show comes as a new poll revealed Monday that more than half of Democratic voters think Biden should not seek re-election in 2024, saying they want a change in the party.

And it comes as prominent Democratic congress members have distanced themselves from Biden or the notion he should seek a second term.

The lieutenant governor is expected to meet with Biden when the president returns to the Keystone State for a Labor Day event in Pittsburgh.

Fetterman’s Republican opponent, celebrity surgeon Dr Oz, immediately seized on the Democrat’s planned absence for Biden’s Tuesday event — issuing a statement saying “No-Show John Fetterman strikes again.”

“Is Fetterman running a campaign for U.S. Senate or is he trying to swindle Pennsylvania voters into electing him without knowing the truth?” the statement said, adding that Fetterman had so far refused to debate his GOP opponent.

Oz’s campaign also accused Fetterman of not being “transparent” about his health after the Democrat returned to the campaign trail earlier this month for the first time since suffering a debilitating stroke in May.

“Either John Fetterman is not being transparent with the voters about his health or he wants to hide his radical positions on everything from crime to the economy,” Oz campaign communications director Brittany Yanick said.

Fetterman and Oz are battling it out for the open seat of departing GOP Sen. Pat Toomey.

The lieutenant governor has faced increasing pressure from his rival to prove that he is healthy enough to serve in Congress.
