Powerball jackpot surges to $875M — 3rd largest ever
If you’re feeling lucky, Powerball’s jackpot has skyrocketed to a whopping $875 million — the third-largest in the game’s history.
The mega-jackpot comes after no one hit big on Wednesday’s drawing for $746.3 million. No one has hit the Powerball jackpot since mid-April, 34 drawings ago.
The next shot to win is Saturday.
You can watch the drawing at 10:59 p.m. Saturday night on WABC-TV in New York or view online at abc7NY.com/lottery.
The biggest Powerball jackpot was for $2.04 billion and went to Edwin Castro in California on Nov. 8, 2022. He claimed his prize in February, opting to take a lump cash payment, totaling a jaw-dropping $997.6 million, rather than accept annuity payments over 29 years.
Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot has surged to $640 million after there was no winner of the lottery’s latest giant jackpot.
The numbers drawn late Friday night were: 10, 24, 48, 51, 66 and gold Mega Ball 15.
The $640 million jackpot in the next drawing, which is Tuesday night, would only be distributed in full to a winner who chooses an annuity paid over 29 years. Nearly all grand prize winners opt to take a cash payout – which is now at an estimated $328 million.
The last time a Mega Millions player scored the top prize was April 18.
The jackpot is the seventh largest in the game’s history.
